Get those walking shoes out, everyone, because it’s time to set your alarm clocks and join the “Walking for Fitness” program at Hilo Hongwanji. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 6:30 am to 7:10 am, everyone is invited to come and walk. Please invite your family and friends to join us. The walking route will begin and end at Sangha Hall. A couple of walking routes, approximately two miles in length are available.
Here is the schedule (Note: Walker’s may modify the distance and pace based on their ability) On Monday, Wed, Friday:
6:00 am – Meet and warm up stretching
6:05 am – Begin walking for 40 minutes or approximately 2 miles
6:45 am – Cool down stretching
6:45 am – Sangha Hall opens for showers and restroom facilities
The Sangha Hall will be open from 7:10 - 8:00 am for the walker’s use. Showers are available for Gojikai members at no charge and for non-members, $3.00/month. Lockers are available (bring your own padlock) for a $2.00/month donation. Sign up and payments can be made at the temple office. Everyone is asked to register, and you can choose to walk one, two, three, four or five days a week. It’s your choice!
