HILO HONGWANJI YOUNG BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION
Year 2010
SCHOLARSHIP

1. Name
   This award shall be known as the HILO HONGWANJI YOUNG BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION Scholarship Award.
   
   
2. Amount of Scholarship
   A scholarship of $500.00 shall be awarded.
   
   
3. Qualified Schools
   Any accredited College or University in the United States of America.
   
   
4. Qualifications of Applicants
   a. Applicant must be a senior in high school when applying.
   b. Applicant must be an active member in good standing with the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
   c. Applicant must be of good moral character with an above average scholastic record.
   d. Applicant must show why he/she is deserving of the scholarship.
   
   
5. Awarding of the Scholarship
   a. Recipient of the scholarship shall be awarded with an appropriate certificate of scholarship upon graduation and a check for $500.00 upon proof of enrollment.
   b. If the recipient is unable to continue further education in the following September, the scholarship may be awarded to the next qualified applicant.
   
   
6. Filing of Application
   Part A Application Form
   Part B Parents' Confidential Statement
   Part C Personal Application Letter
   Part D Transcript of high school scholastic record (certified copy)
   Part E Two letters of reference
   
   All of the above must be mailed and postmarked, or delivered not later than May 9, 2010 to:

7. Judging
   a. Judging shall be conducted by the Hilo Hongwanji YBA Scholarship Committee.
   b. The judges' decision shall be final.
