Reverend and Mrs. Maneki Scholarship Rules

1. NAME: This award shall be known as Reverend and Mrs. Maneki Scholarship.
2. SCHOOL QUALIFIED: Any accredited university, college or vocational/technical school in Hawaii or on the Mainland.
3. NUMBER AND AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP: One scholarship of $500.00 shall be awarded.
4. QUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATES:
   a. Applicant must be a senior of high school.
   b. Applicant must be an actively involved member in Dharma School, Jr. YBA, or other Hongwanji related organizations of the Hilo Betsuin.
   c. Applicant must be of good moral character with average or better scholastic standing. All things being equal performance will be given to applicant with greatest financial need,
   d. Applicant must be a dependent of a dues paying member or himself/herself be a dues paying member.
5. AWARDING OF THE SCHOLARSHIP:
   a. The recipient of the scholarship shall be awarded a check for $500.00 at an appropriate ceremony.
   b. Should the recipient be unable to continue further education in the fall of that year, he/she should notify the Hilo Hongwanji Betsuin office so the scholarship may be awarded to the next qualified applicant.
6. JUDGING:
   a. The judging shall be conducted by a committee appointed by the Board of Buddhist Education of Hilo Hongwanji Betsuin.
   b. The judges' decision is final.
7. DATE OF APPLICATION:
   a. All required forms must be in the Hilo Hongwanji Betsuin office by 10:00am on May 3,2009, addressed to the Maneki Scholarship Committee.
