As he usually did on these journeys, the Buddha chose a large shade of trees at the edge of the village to sit and rest under so the sangha could recuperate from the heat. During these respites those who lived nearby came to seek spiritual counsel and listen to the Buddha’s teachings. |

Editor's Note - This is an excerpt from the September 2007 issue of the Buddhist Wheel The person who attains Shinjin and joy Is taught to be equal to the Tathagatas. Great shinjin is itself Buddha-nature; Buddha-nature is none other Than Tathagata (From Shinran Shonin) “Shinjin” frequently has been translated as “faith”. However because “faith” is commonly defined in most world religions as believing in something unexplainable, in Jodo Shinshu, the True Teaching of Pure Land, we use the term “Shinjin” instead of “faith” because Shinjin as interpreted in English means “true entrusting.” |

Dear Dharma friends, Aloha! I will be coming to the Hilo Betsuin soon to fulfill the Bishop’s re-assignment. After my assignment to Hilo was decided, I announced it to my son, who responded, “Again? Why do we have to move so many times?” I answered coolly, “As long as Dharma friends are awaiting me, I will go anywhere to fulfill the duties of the Mission.”
